About Helping Hands

Four Peaks Irish Arts is your local branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. We are based in the Phoenix Metro area and currently serve all of Arizona! We hope to eventually aid in the establishment of additional Comhaltas branches in other Arizona cities where Irish culture is thriving.

 

History

FPIA began formation in early 2008 when a group of Irish culture enthusiasts in the Phoenix Metro area, made up largely of local session musicians and students, desired to see more traditional Irish musicians coming to the valley for concerts and workshops.

 

Mission

As a non-profit organization and a branch of Comhaltas (pronounced "coal-tas") our primary goal is to promote traditional Irish music, dance and language. We do this in two distinct ways:

1. Supporting our local musicians, dancers,Irish language speakers by providing resources and learning opportunities, and building a thriving community of like-minded enthusiasts.

2. Showcasing talents from around the world by hosting traveling musicians for house concerts and workshops here in the Valley.

 

Member Benefits

 

Your membership dues support both your local FPIA branch in Arizona and the broader Comhaltas organization in Ireland. Locally, your dues help us to continue bringing traditional musicians to Arizona for concerts and workshops. Globally, your dues help Comhaltas to continue the mission they began in 1951 to preserve and promote Irish culture.

Along with access to local concerts, workshops and community events, members of Four Peaks Irish Arts also become a part of the largest network of traditional Irish musicians, dancers and enthusiasts around the world. You can go to almost any major city in the US and Europe and find a local Comhaltas branch to share in the music, dance and community!

 

Collaboration

Although we are a member-based organization, we hope to foster a collaborative spirit between organizations that share similar goals. In the past we have partnered with individuals, other cultural organizations, music venues, and educational institutions.
